I have been thinking deeply about the state of the world's information. How the generation, organisation, exploration & access to it is radically changing. It's changing because of new thought tools such as Obsidian that empower users with open source software to build their own [[Digital Gardens]]. Self-curate, public / private spaces where [[Fluid Thinking]], [[090 Personal Knowledge Management - PKM|Personal Knowledge Management]] thrive. Where we could have true [[Data Linkage and Generation]], where [[Block of Atomic Thought - BOATS]] lead to [[Order for Chaos]] and where knowledge is compounded, given the shortfalls of [[Metacognition]]. Google, think of "key words / a question", type it in and click search. Google then does the "work" of best deciphering what we are looking for based on multiple past searches, SEO, rankings, ads, etc. and then spits out a list of potential links and a list of information. We then get into a clicking spree, going back and forth deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole. Every time we click, that action is monetised. So the more we click, the more money they make, in a very simplified world. The information that hits us is biased and also not linked to what we know individually (linked to what we as a whole have previously searched for). So getting to an independent perspective / not falling into group thinking is hard. Search, exploration and building of knowledge is thankfully undergoing reinvention to change this. #### Collective [[Intelligence x Consiousness]]: Multiplication x Connectivity + Augmentation ##### Multiplication With intelligence, the whole is most likely more than the sum of it's parts. Irrespective of the "quality" of the intelligence that exists and given the "infinite variations" of the individuals parts comprising an individuals intelligence. There would only in infinitesimally small cases be a perfect alignment of the quality and/or a perfect overlap of the specific variations, leading to the non-existence of individualism. ###### Connectivity Say one human brain has an intelligence of X and another has Y. If we bring them together, collective intelligence Z is closer to a multiplication (Z = X x Y) than an addition (Z = X + Y). There is also a possibility where the combination of intelligences spurs an explosion in connectivity driven synergies (Z = 2^(X+Y)). ###### Augmentation Now, say we could digitally encode and replicate even a fraction of a single brains intelligence. As we connect that digital knowledge base with others, it compounds and grows. This digital brain then has the opportunity to evolve through multiple reinforcement learnings iterations, every one making it better and better.
