# Create Release Grow Artist Model An emerging artist business runs as a loop of three stages: create, release, grow. Revenue comes out of the loop. Funding can go in at any stage. ```mermaid flowchart LR F([Funding]) -.-> C F -.-> R F -.-> G C[Create] --> R[Release] --> G[Grow] G --> C R --> E[Earn revenue] G --> E ``` ## Create A&R and creative development. The output is a finished product. - Define the A&R strategy. - Writing and demo, then recording and production. - Mixing and mastering, then artwork. - "Create" means a release schedule, not music-making tools. The goal is music ready to come out every month for the next 12 months. ## Release Get the product to stores in the best form. This is distribution. - Prepare and keep a consistent release schedule. - Prepare and deliver the digital product. - Optimise metadata. - Register publishing and neighbouring rights (NRI). ## Grow Grow the brand and the fanbase. Start from one audience development strategy. - **Social:** profile optimisation, creative content, paid marketing, fan funnel. - **Streaming:** profile optimisation, A&R insight, algorithmic discovery. - **D2C:** single partnerships, D2C landing pages, memberships and superfan perks. ## Revenue lines - Streaming - Publishing - Neighbouring rights (NRI) - Direct to consumer (D2C) > [!note] Only one of these is collateral today > A distributor sees masters streaming income directly. Publishing, NRI and D2C flow through other pipes. See [[Critical Assumptions and Non-Negotiables]]. ## Why it matters for financing - Each stage is a point where an artist needs cash: a recording budget, a release campaign, paid marketing. - A funder inside the loop can fund the stage, then watch the result in the statements. - This is the base of [[Services Improve Creditworthiness]]. ^[Roadmap diagram "Emerging Artist Business Model", Future Mode, Nov 2026] ---- tags: #boat links: [[Music Royalty Financing MOC]] [[Services Improve Creditworthiness]] [[Royalty Financing Is Specialty Finance]]
