# Asset-Centric Intelligence Layer
Renacore's product is an **intelligence layer** that sits *over* existing plant control systems rather than replacing them. It is **asset-centric**: the unit of analysis is a critical asset (a specific compressor, turbine, pump), not a dashboard of raw tags.
## What it does
- Ingests live signals **read-only** from SCADA / PLC / historian — no hardware replacement, no control-loop access.
- Applies physics-informed AI to forecast **failure risk 30 / 60 / 90 days out**.
- Surfaces live insights within **<30 days** of integration.
- Outputs per asset: **failure probability, Remaining Useful Life (RUL), health score, Trip Risk %, Latent Degradation Index**.
- Drafts work orders into the CMMS for a human to approve (agentic triage, human-in-the-loop).
## Why "layer," not "platform"
The word matters. A layer is additive and low-risk; it doesn't ask the plant to migrate. This is the concrete embodiment of [[The OT Intelligence Layer]] — value accrues to whoever owns the asset-level reasoning on top of the existing OT stack, without owning the controls.
## The wedge
Start on 1–3 critical assets, prove lead-time improvement, then expand across the train and fleet. The read-only constraint is what makes the wedge installable in weeks. See [[Renacore/Architecture and Infrastructure]] and [[Deployment Velocity]].
